The film and television industry has resumed work, but in a small way. It started with producers taking steps to finish the post production work of those films and television serials that were left incomplete due to the lockdown.No sooner did the Maharashtra government announce ‘Unlocking’ of the state, filmmakers like Shoojit Sircar and Ritesh Sidhwani have gone back to work.

This development came to light when Vicky Kaushal made the announcement on social media on Sunday evening and tagged Shoojit Sircar, director of his film Sardar Udham Singh in the post. The actor took to Instagram and shared a working still from the film, which he captioned as: "When nature beckoned, We listened... We switched gears, From fast forward to slow motion... Now, there is a call again, an excitement, yet a caution and hunger to reboot, With this feeling... We begin, again... #SardarUdhamSingh. Post-production set to #BeginAgain, tomorrow, 8th June.''

Film producer Ritesh Sidhwani, who has two film releases this year including Farhan Akhtar’s Toofan and KGF Chapter 2, has also joined Mission Begin Again announcement of the state government. Sidhwani took to his social media and posted a picture of him at his desk in his office. Aware that the war with the virus is not yet over, he is seen wearing a mask and taking the precautions needed at the workplace. We also get a glimpse of the various accolades and awards he has won in the background, along with the posters of his prominent film and show releases. He posted the picture with the caption: "Back to what I do best. #makingmovies #mycomfortzone #thenewnormal #MissionBeginAgain #UnlockOne"

When contacted, BN Tiwari, President of Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) said, "There was no official date to resume in the guidelines for the film and television industry, so I hope the producers have not rushed into it. Having said that, I am glad that Mission Begin Again has begun. The only caution of advice I need to give the industry is that they need to follow the guidelines issued by the government.’’

FWICE had written to the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Uddhav Thackeray on May 20 to allow the reopening of recording and post-production studios to help complete pending projects, which in turn would help regeneration of employment for technicians and daily wage workers.

It may be recalled here that the state government gave a green signal to the film and TV industry last week. The film had appealed to the government to allow post-production work to start as it can be done in a controlled environment and with a small set of people. While only Sircar has resumed post -production work, films like Sooryavanshi, Radhe, Laxxmi Bomb and 83 have post-production work pending, especially Laxxmi Bomb which is preparing to release on an OTT platform.
